AMERICA'S WORLD OF DECEPTION, DELUSION, AND FANTASY: |
| AN INTERVIEW WITH JAMES HOWARD KUNSTLER |
|
|
The United States has a serious problem – its leaders. How serious is this problem? It seems to me that it is very serious, in fact a grave problem, and one which is posing a threat to the United States. Deception, delusion, and fantasy characterize American leaders, this is the shocking truth. Since 1970 or so, the deception and delusion and fantasy has been slowly gaining power and legitimacy. After nearly a half century, the facts are speaking to us very loudly and clearly.

It should be no surprise that the United States is fighting wars in the Middle East and Central Asia. American capitalism, or global capitalism, is facing increasingly desperate conditions. We have seen four prominent features of capitalism emerge.

The power of the world is leaving the Western Hemisphere and returning to the Eastern Hemisphere. Americans will have to repudiate the delusional thinking of their leaders and accept this reality. We will also have to identify the two options we face as a global civilization.

The American strategy will be the one I introduced and outlined in WAM in October 2008. It has six elements.

If we are to choose the second option – and I think that we will have no choice – then we will have to follow the six elements of my strategy, and we will of course have to build the Xipho Corporation. What is the Xipho Corporation? It is my business, and the core of its logic is to take the technology that we now see used and developed by American military forces and the Pentagon and deploy them (with significant improvements) to the so-called private sector for commercial or civilian use.

I recently called up Jim Kunstler to see whether he would comment on America's world of deception, delusion, and fantasy. He proposed the low tech Q & A format (I emailed him questions and he replied by email). I readily agreed. This is often an excellent way to address the issues. You then can have impressive precision and clarity, and in fact that's just what we achieved. If you do not believe that the United States is facing a crisis of leadership, then perhaps the discussion between Kunstler and I will amuse you. But I do predict that most people will not be amused. They will be disturbed, very disturbed. The world is not a pretty place, and it never really is a pretty place.... continue |

What is never examined and discussed in news publications of the affluent West? What subjects are never broached?
The answer is uncomfortable, as most people recognize. The western media distort the realities of the world, the
intricacies of world affairs, and present an image of events which is palatable and acceptable, and which conforms to their image of the world.Their beliefs and perspectives must be defended, and it is precisely this act of self-defense, which is no doubt an agonizing and desperate one, that undermines education and creates distortion....continue
