I was about to do “sleep function” and it was midnight or so. It was going to be 7 October 2023. I was still up, working a little, just looking at Telegram. I was kind of bored, but ready to head to the bed. Then I saw reports of rockets going into Tel Aviv and southern Israel. I saw videos of rockets. I also heard reports of commandos, well-armed, entering kibbutzim in southern Israel, taking hostages, and killing anyone who resisted. Was I surprised? No, not really. To be honest, I assumed that Hamas had been planning something like this for many years, probably about 20 years. Yes, that long. It's called armed resistance.

I had predicted this war in 1999. The Arabs, led by the religious guys, would attack Israel and attempt to liberate their land. A really big battle, possibly the final battle. Yasser Arafat's efforts to liberate Palestine had been pretty ineffectual, and so most Palestinians were totally disillusioned, they wanted results. The leaders of Hamas promised results. This gave birth to the Hamas political organization, and it was admittedly driven indeed inspired by religious ideas – Islam.

It was around 19 October 2023 that I picked up in front of my door [delivered by UPS] Rashid Khalidi's book The Hundred Years' War on Palestine: A History of Settler Colonialism and Resistance, 1917-2017. Published by Picador in New York City in 2020. I had not requested a review copy, so the publisher had deliberately sent me a copy. Not long after October 7, 2023. I am very grateful the publisher made this gesture and sent me a copy. I am not an expert on the history of the Palestinian struggle, and I had never read Khalidi's book nor any of his books. It was not that I was not interested, it was just that I had not really gotten around to it. Rashid Khalidi is famous, he is respected for his scrupulous scholarship.

Edward Said [1935-2003] was a very famous Palestinian scholar of post-colonial studies at Columbia University. He was a stalwart defender of the Palestinian people, but he also believed the Jewish people had a claim to live in the Levant. Yes, I will agree, that is the most sensible view of the problem – if it can be called a problem.

What do I mean by this? Well, history is certainly powerful, it will have a lot inertia, it cannot be dismissed. Ashkenazi Jews cannot be faulted for their historical predicament, they were herded into ghettos in Europe [1500-1800] and also into larger ghettos – called the Pale of Settlement [1790s-1880s] in Russia. I have expressed deep reservations about the behavior of Ashkenazi Jews, everyone knows this. From 1880 and into the 1920s around 300,000 Ashkenazi Jews from the Pale of Settlement, most from what is now Poland, illegally migrated to Germany. This may well be the event which precipitated World War II.

The Pale of Settlement Ashkenazi Jews were not welcome in Germany. There were many who advocated the communist ideology. Then the Bolshevik Revolution happened. If I remember correctly, one of Lenin's top deputies organized [attempted] several very serious coup d'etats in Berlin. I believe this was in the early 1920s. They came very close to succeeding. This Lenin deputy was an Ashkenazi Jew.

This is all history – and Khalidi is a historian. There is little reason to believe we need to repeat history, or to be the victims of the inertia of history. Young Ashkenazi Jews in Israel will likely agree with me, everything I say. Say anyone under 35 years old. I have argued that the Israeli state needs to be dismantled. I have no doubt it must be, otherwise there will never be a resolution of this problem. And it is not really a serious problem, it is only a historical trend and this trend can be stopped. And it will be stopped.

The Israeli leadership is criminal, to be sure. And there are lot of older Ashkenazi Jews in the United States that are criminal. I am not going to get into why they are like this. It is undoubtedly due to a number of reasons. But, as I have argued, this does not mean this madness has to continue. It does not.

At the end of the very excellent interview I recently did with Mr Rashid Khalidi [published at worldaffairsmonthly.com on January 5, 2024] I mentioned that we are in a new world.

I have argued this already a number of times, so no one familiar with my arguments will be surprised I say this. Ashkenazi Jews in Israel, at the least the younger ones, know very well that the state of Israel is not really viable. Many probably even fear that it will be destroyed, but what can they do? They are trapped. If they were to be able to flee – and that is unlikely – where would they go?

You cannot get any better than Rashid Khalidi. He's got a BA from Yale University and PhD from Oxford University. He is extremely honest. His treatise on the history of the displacement of the Palestinians is painful to read. I tried to read it really carefully, it was hard to do that because I started reading it at the end of October 2023. When Rashid said in the interview that the Israeli government and the American government are starving the 2 million Palestinians in Gaza, I began to feel pretty bad. I was not going to vomit, but it is kind of scary to realize that your government is this criminal.

I always knew the United States government is controlled by criminals. Now we have all the evidence we need to make this assertion credible.

I cannot predict the future, it is stupid to even try, but I will say that my intuition at the moment is that most of the American government responsible for this genocide of Palestinians – and yes there is no doubt it is an organized massacre – will ultimately be arrested and sent to the Hague, the Netherlands. This includes Joe Biden, president of the United States of America. And yes there is no doubt that the responsible parties in the government of Israel will also be arrested. I know this sounds hard to believe. How will this happen? Will a large war be necessary?

I cannot say, it is just my assessment at this point in time. And why? Because, as I have argued, “we are in a new world.” Semiconductors, computers, the internet, satellites, mobile phones, sophisticated software. And this technology is all quite inexpensive. Everyone around the world can possess it, master it. We human mammals have a created a new world for ourselves – a much better world.

We are going to dispatch the old world. It is the human mammal brain. It is neuroscience. We are pretty clever.

Every 15 year old in the United States and Europe must read The Hundred Years' War on Palestine. I say 15 because I want these young people to be “pre-brainwashed”: Ashkenazi Jews and other Zionists will want them indoctrinated, but I want these young people to be reading Khalidi before this operation begins. They will like it, they will be demanding answers. We all know the solution: a monetary union in the Arab/Muslim world. Dismantle Israel immediately and stop the killing and mayhem.
